Book title and author: The Boston Girl By, Anita Diamant

Overall Score: 8.5

A quick snippet about the book: An unforgettable novel about a young jewish girl growing up in Boston with strict Russian immigrant parents. Taking place in the early twentieth century, we follow Addie Baum (The Boston Girl) as she navigates the challenges of being a woman and poor during that period. Her avid curiosity and love of learning is her solace and her ticket to friends, adventure, and more.

Read when you are in the mood for: A history lesson (historical fiction), A change in perspective, A good laugh. READER HINT: Use the tags below to find other books that match this mood

Ideal for reading: On a beach, On your commute, With your book club (good conversation starter), Before bed

Highlight: Addie Baum and her friends are truly delightful and courageous characters, you aspire to live up to their integrity and character.

Low point: It took a little while to really develop and it was a short book so you were left wanting a bit more.

Have you read a good book recently? Read a doozie you want to help others avoid?
